This home was designed around an existing art collection, allowing the client’s pieces to lead the way. Black floors and white walls establish a bold yet restrained canvas, giving artworks of varying scales and intensity the room to command attention without overwhelming the interiors. The challenge lay in softening this strong monochrome foundation while preserving its clarity. Fabrics, upholstery and carefully considered furnishings bring warmth and tactility, while the colour and expression within the art break through the black and white backdrop. Rather than adding another layer of decoration, the design steps back where needed, allowing the client’s collection and personality to become the defining character of the home.
